You can apply to study in Canada as an international student. The study permit is a document that allows you to study in Canada.


Do I need a study permit?

Most foreign nationals are required to have a study permit to study in Canada. If your program is longer than 6 months, you are normally required to get a study permit.

How can I get a study permit?

You should apply for a study permit, before you come to Canada because study permit is not a visa and it doesn’t allow you to enter Canada.

Other than a valid passport and supporting documents, you also need a letter of acceptance from the designated learning institution (DLI).

What is the fee for study permit?

The fee for study permit is CAN$150.

How can I extend my study permit?

The expiry date of your study permit is usually 90 days longer than the length of your study program. You can extend your stay in Canada (or prepare to leave) during the extra 90 days.

You are advised to apply for an extension at least 30 days before it expires.
